Hawaiian BBQ sauce

16 oz tomato puree
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup white vinegar
1 Tbl dark soy sauce
2 cloves of garlic
1 Tbl hot sauce
black pepper
3/4 cup of canned, crushed pineapple
Smash and chop the garlic. Place the above 6 ingredients into a non-reactive sauce pan. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Stir to combine. Bring the contents of the pan to a boil, cut the heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Add the crushed pineapple and juice. Simmer until relatively thick.

This sauce is a excellent compliment to smokey ribs.
