Cattlemen's Kansas City Classic

The following recipe is my attempt to replicate the taste of a commercial product. This time, it's Cattlemen's Kansas City Classic BBQ sauce.

Label contents
"Tomato Paste, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Corn Syrup, Water, Distilled Vinegar, Molasses, Salt, Mustard Bran, Natural Hickory Smoke Flavor, Spices, Onion Powder, Garlic Powder, Sodium Benzoate (Preservative), Caramel Color, Sugar, Natural Flavors"
Ingredients
7 Tbl tomato paste
1/4 cup light corn syrup
1 Tbl dark molasses
1/4 cup white vinegar
1/2 Tsp dry mustard
1 1/2 Tsp dilute liquid smoke
1/4 Tsp onion powder
1/4 Tsp garlic powder
1/4 Tsp ground cayenne pepper
salt to taste
black pepper to taste
Method
Rehydrate the tomato paste by placing it into a 2 cup Pyrex measuring cup. Add water, and process with a stick blendor until the liquid-level comes up to 12 oz.

Place the above ingredients into a non-reactive sauce pan. Use the stick blendor to thoroughly combine. Bring the contents of the pan to a boil, cut the heat and simmer slowly until relatively thick.
